Baby Lilly | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

Amazing!  That's all I can say!  This sweet little ladybug is obviously beautiful, as you can see.  But what you can't see from this photo is the fact that I was also able to be present to photograph her delivery.  She is the second baby I have watched come into the world, the first being my own.  It was an absolute honor and privilege to be able to photograph her delivery and then her newborn portrait session.  Her Mommy is actually the gestational surrogate that carried my daughter, so it was extra special to be part of their whole experience again.  Their family has a very special place in my heart, for sure.  At just 5 days old here, little miss Lilly is precious...so soft and snuggly.  And besides being a beautiful baby, she was so well behaved, also!  Only one minor little accident during her session.  The rest of the time she spent happily snoozing away, with several breaks to nurse, of course.  A girl's gotta eat!  :)  I really wanted to keep her for a while after her session, just to sit and hold her and watch her sleeping, but I know her parents would have missed her dearly.  Can't say that I blame them...look at her sweet little face!!

Could not choose between Black & White and Color!!

Erin & Kyle ~ Couples Session

I usually kind of secretly dread having photo sessions outdoors once we get into November.  Typically, it's getting pretty chilly out, it's looking dreary and gloomy, the ground is a little muddy, most of the pretty leaves have fallen, and it's feeling like Fall is over.  Yesterday, however, was a totally different story!!  Although we are more than a week into November, that didn't matter one bit for Erin and Kyle's session.  We got very lucky and had an absolutely beautiful day!!  This year's Fall colors seem to be extra vibrant and we were fortunate enough that there were still lots of leaves on the trees and it was only a bit chilly with the wind, but nothing too cold.  And this couple couldn't have been any cuter if they tried.  I'm sure Kyle probably wasn't totally enthused about having pictures, as is true for most guys it seems.  But he was a super good sport about the whole thing and he put up with me dragging them from one place to the next.  If he's that easy to get along with at home, then he's a keeper.  And Erin was really fun, laughing and smiling a lot, definitely an outgoing gal....she seemed so laid back and up for anything!  Just from the time I spent with them, they look like a great match and it's very easy to see that they have a good time together!  :)  Check out their Sneak Peek!

Messoroch Family Session

Nothing like gorgeous Fall leaves to make the perfect backdrop on a brisk November day!  I am not sure if it is the case, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this was the peak weekend for colorful leaves.  What a beautiful sight!  I was glad to have a fun family to photograph on this backdrop.  This Mom is a good friend of mine from college and it's always fun to get to see her and her cute little family.  They are very blessed and excited to be adding another little bundle to the mix, as they are expecting a baby in April.  I am so happy for them!!

Here is a Sneak Peek!!

Kara's Senior Session

Ha!!  When I think of Kara's session, I can't help but smile and laugh.  Her session was originally scheduled for a Saturday morning/afternoon.  We headed out to get the fun started and found ourselves at our first location.  My lovely model, Kara, looked gorgeous and her hair was straight out of a magazine.  Everything was going great for about the first ten minutes and then.....rain!  And I am not talking about a light drizzle....oh no.  I am referring to a pouring-buckets-drench-you-to-the-bone-soak-you-completely-from-head-to-toe-in-roughly-9-seconds kind of rain!!  And there was almost no time to run for cover!!  It came on so quickly that there was no avoiding it.  We had to grab our stuff and get out of there!!  And sweet Kara immediately went over and grabbed my camera bag, trying to help us out, and I looked at her and said, "Save the hair!!" so that she would run as fast as she could to her car!  And I grabbed the bag and ran like crazy to the car!  The reason it makes me laugh is that I keep picturing my assistant (my lovely mom) running for cover along side me and then trying frantically to get her light stand down and in the back of my car.  I had opened the hatch and unlocked the doors remotely while we were running.  Since I had my camera in hand, I jumped as quickly as I could into the front seat to avoid having it ruined by the rain.  That's when I realized that my mom was struggling to get her gear in and I turned around in my seat to see her getting more and more soaked by the second.  And for some reason, all I could do was laugh....hysterically!!  I couldn't stop!!  I laughed until I was almost crying.  And despite being stuck in the rain, my mom was laughing, too!!  Fortunately, we had conveniently brought along a couple of towels in preparation for the anticipated "trash the dress" portion of the session.  Needless to say, Kara's session was postponed and rescheduled for the following Tuesday.  After all that, it actually seemed to turn out for the best though, because the second session day ended up being absolutely beautiful and Kara totally rocked her session!!  Check her out!!

Here is the Sneak Peek!!
This is from the first day, just before the downpour!

And then this one is from our second day....beautiful!

O'Neil Family Portraits

Today I had the great pleasure of getting to photograph a friend of mine from middle school and her sweet little family.  I did portraits of their little guy when he was just a tiny baby, and today he was looking so grown up and was such a well-behaved little boy.  What a sweetie!  And it sure doesn't hurt that he is as cute as he can be.  He was chatting away with me and had the funniest things to say.  I could have just sat and listened to all his stories, but then we wouldn't have any pictures!  And as beautiful as this family is just the way they are, they are expecting a second little blessing in January, so there will be another precious little face to add.  Can't wait to meet their new baby soon!  For now, here is a Sneak Peek from our session on this gorgeous Fall day!!

Happy 3rd Birthday, baby girl!!

What a difference a year makes! From the moment of her birth to her third birthday today, this little girl has been lighting up my life. Her sense of humor is years beyond her age and she can make anyone laugh. She doesn't seem to miss a punchline! A genuine smile from her is pretty much the cutest thing you've ever seen. Her wit and sassy personality will get you when you least expect it. She has opinions and she is not afraid to share them. She is way smarter than she needs to be and is the fastest little learner I've ever known. She constantly surprises us when she uses big words that we thought she couldn't possibly know. She is so brave and welcomes new adventures with excitement and enthusiasm. She is a huge animal lover and has a sweet heart for little critters, even the ones that mommy wants to smash with a shoe. She is very affectionate and loves sharing her hugs and kisses with mommy and daddy. Her big brown eyes always tell you just what she is thinking, even when she's up to no good. And her little voice just melts me when she tells me she loves me.
Happy Birthday, Olivia!!

Mommy and Daddy love you more than you will ever know!

Olivia's 3rd Birthday party....bring on the costumes! :)

Being an October baby means that when birthday time rolls around, there is no shortage of Halloween things everywhere you go.  This year, rather than come up with a theme, we just decided to go with the season's festivities and have a Halloween costume party, complete with a spooky, haunted castle!!  My mom and I took the castle that we had made for her princess party last year and we gave it a creepy face lift, complete with black flowers in the window boxes, silhouettes of mice running around, and a giant spider and web hanging overhead.  Olivia wanted to dress up as Rapunzel, so we found her a beautiful little Rapunzel dress.  Her daddy and I dressed up as the main characters from the movie "Wreck It Ralph."  It was really fun seeing all the costumes that our guests wore.  I was not a very good photographer that day because I didn't take very many pictures, and even missed some people entirely!  That always seems to happen when it's an event that I'm hosting!  Anyhow, here are a few quick snapshots from her birthday party!

The castle last year and the Halloween makeover for this year!

Isaac's Senior Session

I feel blessed and lucky to have been able to work with this family again.  Isaac is the third (and final) member of their family to be graduating from high school.  I did senior portraits for both of his older sisters, and now it was finally his turn.  I actually attribute much of my early success to his older sister because they were my very first, real paying customer that wasn't either related to me or a friend of the family.  She was fantastic to work with and her portraits were stunning, which lead others to come to me.  And then I was excited to work with their younger daughter, a couple years later.  She, too, did such a fantastic job and her portraits were gorgeous.  Both of their sessions were so fun and we laughed a LOT!  Now, five years after I started working with them, their family stuck with me and I was able to finish out their high school graduates with Isaac's session.  And much like his sisters before him, he was really great to work with and we had a blast on his session.  And it's no mystery that good genes run in the family, as they all look amazing and are wonderfully photogenic!!  His sisters and his mom all came along with him, so of course there was no shortage of laughs!!  And Isaac and his family are very close, so they were able to bring the real, genuine smiles out of him with ease.  I just love their family!!  Most definitely three of my very favorite sessions ever have come from this one fabulous family.  :)

Quentin's Senior Session

So much fun!!  Quentin's Senior session rocked!!  (literally!)  I knew he wanted to include his guitar in his session and I was, of course, on board with that idea.  His mom had even mentioned his "studio" when we talked on the phone.  However, I was not expecting it to be nearly as cool as it was!!  This guy has a ton of guitars and equipment, much of which he built himself!  And he is really talented!  He plays multiple instruments and even writes some of his own music!  I was very impressed!  And anytime I have a session with a Senior guy, I always expect that they will be a little less interested than the ladies are.  But Quentin did a great job of staying involved and interested, and I'm thinking it's because he is a fellow artistic, creative thinker.  And I really enjoyed his mom and sister coming along with us....they really reminded me of how my mom and I are together.  What a great family!!

Paige's Senior Session

What a sweet family!!  I was so happy to arrive at Paige's house to such a warm welcome!  And then we got right down to business and Paige showed me all her outfits.  Loved them all!!!  Felt like maybe I should keep a couple of her shirts for myself!  ;)  And then we headed out for what turned out to be a really fun evening session with big plans for a sunset finish, which we nearly missed!  But we chased the sunset, literally, and were able to capture a few last shots as the sun dropped out of sight.  Paige was fantastic, as was my temporary new second assistant, her younger sister.  What a good helper she was!!  :)

Baby Easton | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

What an adorable, squishy little guy he was!!  Sweet little Easton was such a cutie pie for his newborn portrait session!  It was amazing to me how clear and gorgeous his skin was, having only been born just 6 days earlier!  Very little retouching here.  And he was very well behaved when it came to laying on my prop blankets and such....no potty accidents!  If you work with newborns, then you know how rare that is.  However, he did take it out on his mommy by peeing on her a couple of times!  But luckily, she was a real trooper and didn't seem phased by it.  Initially, just a day after his birth, his mommy warned me that he was a bit fussy and that he may just cry the whole time.  But being home for a few days apparently fixed that because he really didn't cry much at all!  He did, however, have a mind of his own about sleeping and he really wanted to be awake for the second half of his session.  And he also kept trying to sit up and crawl away, and even did a couple of push ups!  He sure was a tough little guy!!  :)  Check him out!

Baby Von | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

The adorable little guy that had his newborn portrait session today is actually the cousin of the previous baby I just photographed.  Being so close in age, they will have lots of fun growing up together!  However, it may not be wise to let two little boys that are this cute hang out together...the girls may not be able to handle that!!  :)  Little Von had so much hair that he almost has a hairdo already.  So cute!!  Once his Mommy got his belly filled up with milk, he was a pretty great little sleeper for me.  Annnd, he even gave me a couple little smiles, which I loved!!  Check him out!

Baby Evan | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

What a blissfully sound sleeper this adorable little guy was today!!  And actually, for a little guy he is really not so little.  He was 9lbs, 6oz of 100% pure, sleepy, squishy baby cuteness!!  ANNND.... something my fellow photogs can appreciate....this lil' man slept the ENTIRE time with no breaks and never had a single potty accident.  Ever since shooting my first newborn portrait session, I have basically been telling my clients that it's pretty impossible to have an accident free session, because I wanted them to know that it's okay when that happens.  It always happens.  It's kind of a given with a naked newborn!!  But now that this little guy came along and behaved like quite the little gentleman, I feel like a big old liar pants!  Apparently, once in a blue moon, there might come along a baby that doesn't make at least a little dirty laundry for me!!  And with that, folks, I've pretty much seen it all!!  By the way, did you see those precious little lips and that amazing head of hair?  It's just too much to take!  :)

Love this shot with big brother!!  So sweet!

Barnes Family Session

Has it really been that long?  I photographed this lovely family once before, but did not realize just how long ago it was.  Turns out that my previous session with them was actually about five years ago!!  And my, how so much has changed for them in the last five years.  At that time, there were only 3 little grandchildren.  Now, fast forward to there being 5 grandchildren...four adorable boys and a beautiful new baby girl.  They were all so easy to work with, too.  And believe me, as a photographer who always gets a little stressed about shooting large groups, especially when young children are involved, this session was super smooth and easy!  Happy photographer, here!   :)

First, a flash back to the session we did 5 years ago...

And here is their new family portrait, complete with a couple extra little faces!

Lainey & Lila | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

Today I had the pleasure of photographing my very first newborn TWIN portrait session!  And I was thrilled to have two tiny, identical, eleven day old twin girls as my subjects.  And my, oh, my were they precious!!  It was completely double cuteness overload for me!!!  They tried as hard as they could to stay awake, but in the end, mommy's milk teamed up with sleepy time and both little fighters gave in.  And then it was baby girl model mayhem!!  :) They were so adorable that I asked if I could keep one.  (I didn't want to sound too selfish asking for both! Haha!)  Brace yourself for the cuteness from this session!  :)
